Spraying techniques

Using the techniques described below will ensure perfect results.
-
Hold gun horizontally and at an even distance to the surface to be processed. Depending on the type of material,
surface or spray pattern desired, direct the gun at approx. 30 cm distance.
-
Direct the gun with an even motion either horizontally or up and down (depending on nozzle adjustment). An even
speed of directing is economical and produces an even coating.
-
Reducing the spraying distance will deliver more paint to the surface, with the spraying width becoming more
narrow. A greater distance will result in a thinner coating with a broad spray pattern. In the event of tears, running
or excessively thick paint application, use a smaller nozzle. However, if the paint application is too weak, or a
faster spraying tempo is desired, you will need to work with a larger nozzle hole.
-
Maintain a consistent spraying motion. Spray alternately from left to right and right to left. Commence the motion
before the discharge lever is activated.
-
To achieve an even finish, overlapping the spray pattern is absolutely necessary. Each paint strip is to be overlapped.
With horizontal spraying for example the lower edge of the preceding spray action should be aimed for so as to
overlap the preceding pattern by approx. 50%.
-
Directing the pistol by wrist action or from an angle must be avoided without fail. This results in uneven paint
application and increased spray mist.
-
When treating corners and edges, the centre of the spray pattern must be divided on the edge or corner and
spraying must be horizontal, so that both adjoining surfaces receive the same quantity of paint.
-
When working under windy conditions, direct the spray pattern into the wind to prevent drifting. Work from the
bottom upwards. Suspend the work if there is strong wind.
