Before starting the appliance check that
the cutting head will not come into contact
with stones, rubble or other foreign bod-
ies.
Switch on the appliance before you ap-
proach the grass that is to be cut.
Begin cutting near the power socket and
work away from the socket.
Cut the grass by swaying
the appliance sideways to
the right and left.
Cut slowly, tipping the appli-
ance fowards by about 30°.
Long grass should be cut at layers from
top to bottom.
Do not cut moist or wet grass.
Do not overload the appliance during op-
eration.
Avoid contacting solid obstacles (stones,
walls, fences, etc.) since this would make
the string wear out too quickly. Use the
edge of the protective cover to keep the
appliance away from such obstacles.
Do not pass the operating appliance over
the extension cable as the cable could be
damaged. Always trail the extension cable
behind you.

Maintenance and cleaning

Always disconnect the plug from the
mains socket before working on the
appliance.
Any work that is not described in
these Instructions must be carried
out by a servicing agency author-
ized by us. Only use original parts
and be very careful with the line cut-
ter during installation work. Danger
of injury!
Never manipulate the cutting device
by inserting worn out original or
alien parts. Only use original spare
parts. Never use metal lines. The
use of alien parts can result in seri-
ous personal injury and cause irrep-
arable damage to the appliance and
the guarantee will become instantly
null and void.

1. Unplug the the power chord.
2. Turn the device over so that the cutting
head is facing upwards.
3. Unscrew the screw knob (25).
4. Remove the string spool (26) and the
spring (27).
5. Attach the old spring to the cylindrical pin
in the spool holder (28). Place the new
spool in the spool holder (28) and insert
the two string ends (29) through the string
outlets (30).
6. Press the string spool (26) in the housing
so that the spring is tight. Pull tightly on
both ends of the string so that they are not
trapped between the spool and the hous-
ing.
7. Unscrew the screw knob (25) while con-
tinuing to press the spool (26) into the
housing. Tighten the screw by hand only
