3.1 Specified Conditions of Use

The filter unit is intended for spatial ventilation. It is suited to extracting air from the
room, filtering it and feeding in clean air according to the room.
It is designed for use in production halls and warehouses, in which the air in the room
must be free from particulate contamination such as smoke and dust.
This smoke and dust must not be combustible materials, as these can form an
explosive mixture with air, for which the filter unit is not designed.
When extracting welding fumes with carcinogenic components, such as occur while
welding steel alloys (e.g. stainless steel), only equipment that is tested and approved
may be operated according to official regulations in the so-called air recirculation
method.
The CleanAirTower is approved for extracting welding fumes, which arise when
welding low- and high-alloy steels, and complies with the requirements of welding
fume separation class W3, in accordance with DIN EN ISO 15012-1.
When extracting welding fumes with carcinogenic components (e.g. chromates,
nickel oxides etc.), the requirements of TRGS 560 (technical rules for HAZMAT) and
TRGS 528 (welding work) must be obeyed.
The dimensions and other information about the CleanAirTower, which must be
observed, are in the technical specification.
Type of air feed - air return feed
• The air in the room is extracted from the upper part of the filter unit and the filter
component retains the particles fed with it, such as fumes and dust, with a degree
of separation higher than 99%. Air cleaned in this way is fed back to the room in
low pulses as recirculated air in the lower part of the filter unit.
This is so-called air return into the workspace (recirculation mode), for which
national regulations must be obeyed, where relevant. This can be a minimum
outside air component or even a ban on air return when dealing with carcinogenic
materials, e.g. when welding nickel-chrome steels.
Degree of separation
• The degree of separation of the filter material must be at least 99.9% in
accordance with DIN EN 60335-2-69
Waste Disposal
• On reaching a set pressure difference at the filter, separated particles are cleaned
off the filter surface with pulses of compressed air. Particles cleaned off are
collected in a waste disposal container. The inlet opening of this waste disposal
container can be sealed with a sticker.
• The waste disposal container, with the separated materials, is to be disposed of
accordingly in an environmentally friendly manner, while observing the regulations
specific to the country.
