1.4 - DESCRIPTION OF THE DEVICE

The NEW VOYAGE aerosol therapy device is made up of a compressor driven by an electric motor in the basic unit, a MEFAR2000 kit
(nebuliser + mouthpiece) and two masks (which can be mounted on the nebulizer instead of the mouthpiece).
1.5 - PATIENT GROUPS
The NEW VOYAGE aerosol therapy device provides highly effective inhalation therapy for patients of any age, from young children to the elderly.
1.6 - CONTENTS
The package contains (Fig. A):
the basic unit (1), a power cable (2), an accessory storage compartment (3), an ON/OFF switch (4), a filter slot and filter (5), a power socket
(6), an air intake (7), a cover (8) and a nebuliser support (9).
It also contains:
• a Mefar2000 kit containing the following:
- a nebuliser (upper section (10), atomiser (11), lower section (12))
- a mouthpiece (13)
• two masks: a paediatric mask (14) and an adult mask (15)
• a connecting tube (16)

2 - PREPARATION AND USE

2.1 - PREPARING THE BASIC UNIT
Before use, make sure the voltage indicated on the rating plate underneath the device corresponds to the mains voltage and the
wiring system complies with the current regulations.
Do not use if the cable is damaged.
Check that the casing is integral and there is no sign of dents or damage.
To access the storage compartment, raise the front of the cover to release the snap lock.
Make sure the switch (4) is in position 0 (OFF). Plug the power cable into the socket in the apparatus, insert the electric plug in the mains
socket, move the switch in position I (ON) and check that air comes out of the air intake (7).
Then move the switch in position 0 (OFF).
2.2 - PREPARING AND USING THE MEFAR2000 KIT
Please read section 3.2 before using the device.
Proceed as follows to use the Mefar2000 kit:
- Make sure the atomiser (11) is correctly inserted in the central sleeve in the lower section (12) of the nebuliser.
- The lower section (12) has a graduated scale that shows the approximate amount of liquid inside. The purpose is merely to give an
approximate indication of the contents. Use a graduated syringe to get an accurate dose. Pour the liquid into the tank (Fig. B), keeping
to the dosage specified by your doctor.
Readings must be taken on the graduated scale with the atomiser mounted on the lower section.
- Screw the upper section (10) of the nebuliser onto the base.
- Fit the mouthpiece (13) onto the upper section (10) of the nebuliser (Fig. C).
- Move the switch (4) in position I (ON).
- During treatment, hold the nebuliser upright in your hand to enable it to work efficiently.
- If the above operations have been performed correctly, a spray will come out of the mouthpiece.
The mouthpiece must be held in the mouth, between the teeth with the lips closed, even when you breathe out. Breathe in through the
mouth and out through the nose.
During use, do not obstruct the air outlet hole in the base.
When you have used up all the liquid or wish to interrupt treatment, press (0) (OFF) on the switch and place the nebuliser back on its support (9).
A small amount of liquid may remain in the nebuliser at the end of the session but this has no importance.
If a small amount of moisture remains inside the air tube at the end of the session, leave the device switched on and allow it to dry by ventilation.
The presence of liquid inside the tube is the result of water vapour forming under certain environmental conditions.
2.3 - USING THE MASK
Please read section 3.3 before using the device.
To use the mask, fit it onto the upper section of the nebuliser (Fig. C).
The mask must be placed gently over the mouth and nose. The treatment consists of inhaling the atomised liquid slowly and deeply. The
exhaled air is released through vents in the sides of the mask.
During use, do not obstruct the air vents at the sides of the mask.
Atomisation is very rapid and the session only lasts a few minutes.
As stated under Important Notes, some liquids are not compatible with the materials of which the nebuliser, Rinowash and spacer mouth
