Storing of bakelite bonded Al

Cutting in of fuse

Instruction Manual
Regular dressing of the cut-off wheel is also part of the general
maintenance.
A newly dressed cut-off wheel will have optimum cutting qualities. A
badly maintained and poorly dressed cut-off wheel requires a higher
cutting pressure and will, therefore, generate more frictional heat. It
may also bend which will result in an oblique cut.
A combination of both might result in damaging the cut-off wheel.
Actually, a poorly dressed cut-off wheel is the most frequent reason for
damage of the cut-off wheel.
The cut-off wheel is dressed as follows:
Let the cut-off wheel rotate on min. revolutions. Now dress the cut-off
wheel by moving the moistened dressing stone 1 or 2 times all over the
diamond layer. This can be done manually, but it is safer (especially at
the thin cut-off wheels) to clamp the dressing stone in the specimen
holder and cut it in the normal way.
After the dressing the cut-off wheel is cleaned by applying plenty of
cooling water.
O
These cut-off wheels are sensitive to humidity. Therefore, do not mix new

and old (dry and humid) cut-off wheels. It is best to store them in a dry
place, horizontally on a plane support.
The lamp (fig. 1.8) indicates whether there is power on the apparatus. A
constant heavy load of the motor will cut-out the fuse on the front plate (fig.
1.7). It can be cut-in again by pressing the button.
