5. Are all zippers and panels
closed and all straps in place?
Correct any twisted straps;
ensure that materials housed
by Velcro™ panels are zipped
in and panels secured.
6. Are materials still in good
shape? Look closely at
your PFD – for damage or
excessive abrasion, wear, tear
and/or any visible foreign
matter, such as mildew or oil
stains. Check that all seams
are secure, and all straps and
hardware are sound. If you
see any signs of damage, perform the Every two
months tests, described in Care
and maintenance, (p. 29).
USING THIS PFD BELOW FREEZING
Below freezing temperatures, (0° C/ 32° F ), a discharged cylinder
may not fully inflate your PFD. So, once your cylinder has discharged
(either by automatic or manual inflation), use oral inflation as your
back-up system to reach full buoyancy (see Inflating/Orally, p. 16).
