Troubleshooting

Error description:
Display on measuring device: 0.00 ppm
Sensor current: 0.00 mA
Measure/Remedy
1.
Check whether the measuring line
is connected with the right polarity
2.
Check measuring line for wire break
3.
Check function of controller / meas‐
uring device using the simulator
4.
If no error has been localised by
these measures then
ð return the sensor for checking.
Error description:
Display on measuring device: 0.00 ppm
3.00 mA < sensor current < 4.00 mA
Measure/Remedy
1.
Sensor not yet ready for measure‐
ment, increase run-in time
2.
Check if there are substances in the
sample water (reducing agent such
as, e.g. sulphite) that disturb the
sensor
3.
If no error has been localised by
these measures then
ð return the sensor for checking.
Error description:
Display on measuring device frozen:
Sensor current above 20 mA
Measure/Remedy
1.
Determine the chlorine content of
the sample water using the DPD-1
reference method
ð If it is really above the indicated
measuring range of the of the
sensor then check the plant for
faults. If the reading is above
the indicated measuring range
of the sensor but this concen‐
tration is desired then the
sensor must be replaced by a
sensor with the right measuring
range
2.
If the measured DPD value is within
the measuring range of the sensor
you must check whether there are
any troublesome substances (e.g.
ozone, chlorine dioxide, di-/trichlor‐
amine) in the sample water
ð If this is the case then you must
remove the troublesome sub‐
stances from the sample water
(e.g. by shock chlorination).
3.
If there are no troublesome sub‐
stances in the sample water then
there may be a defect
ð Return the sensor for checking.
