Troubleshooting
Before working on the machine, unplug the power cord, turn off the water supply and actuate the spray gun until the pressure has
been relieved.
Fault
Motor does not run when switched on
(hums when switched on)
Motor constantly switches on and off
Engine stops
Weak, ragged, unclean jet
Pressure fluctuates or drops
RE 143, RE 143 PLUS, RE 163, RE 163 PLUS
Cause
Mains voltage is too low or improper
Extension cord with wrong cross-section
Extension cord is too long
Mains circuit-breaker has been tripped
Spray gun not actuated
High-pressure pump or spray attachment is
leaky
Machine switches off because the motor is
overheating
Nozzle fouled
Shortage of water
High-pressure nozzle in spray head is dirty
Water intake strainer in pump inflow clogged Clean water intake strainer; see
High-pressure pump is leaky, valves are
defective
Nozzle clogged
Remedy
Check electrical connection
Check plug, cable and switch
Use an extension cord with a sufficient
cross-section, see "Connecting the
machine to the power supply"
Connect the machine without an exten-
sion cord or with a shorter one
Switch off the machine, actuate the spray
gun until water only drips out of the head,
engage the safety catch, reset the mains
circuit-breaker
Actuate spray gun when switching on the
machine
Have the machine checked by a servicing
1)
dealer
Check whether the supply voltage and
machine voltage match; let the motor cool
down for at least 5 minutes
Clean nozzle, see "Maintenance"
Open water tap completely
Comply with permissible suction lift (suc-
tion mode only)
Clean high-pressure nozzle; see
"Maintenance"
