c) Direct Voltage Measurement "V/DC"
Proceed as follows to measure direct voltages "DC" (V
- Turn the DMM on and select measuring function "V
shows "DC" and the unit "V".
- Plug the red measuring line into the V measuring jack (8) and the
black measuring line into the COM measuring jack (7).
- Connect the two measuring prods to the object to be measured in
parallel (generator, circuit, etc.). The red measuring prod indicates the
positive pole, the black measuring prod the negative pole.
- The polarity of the respective measured value is indicated on the
display together with the current measured value.
- Remove the measuring lines from the object to be measured after
completion of the measurement and switch off the DMM.
If a minus "-" appears in front of the measured value for direct
voltage, the measured voltage is negative (or the measuring
lines are swapped).
The voltage range "V/DC" has an input resistance of ≥10 MΩ. This will put barely any strain on the circuit.
d) Voltage Measuring "mV"
There is a dedicated measuring function to measure smaller voltages up to 600 mV at a high resolution. This function
can be used for alternating and direct voltage alike. Switching takes place with the button "MODE".
Proceed as follows to measure alternating voltages "AC " (mV
- Turn the DMM on and select measuring function "mV ". The display
shows "AC" and the unit "mV".
- Plug the red measuring line into the V measuring jack (8) and the
black measuring line into the COM measuring jack (7).
- Connect the two measuring prods to the object to be measured in
parallel (generator, circuit, etc.).
- The measured value is indicated on the display.
- Remove the measuring lines from the object to be measured after
completion of the measurement and switch off the DMM.
The voltage range "mV DC/AC" has an input resistance of ≥10
MΩ. With the measuring inputs open, the high sensitivity may
cause an undefined measured value to be displayed; however,
this does not influence the measuring result.
