Work on the opened BENNING IT 100 under voltage may be carried out only
by skilled electricians with special precautions for the prevention of
accidents.
Make the BENNING IT 100 voltage free as follows before opening the instru-
ment:
-
F irst disconnect the two safety measuring cables from the measuring
point.
- T hen disconnect the two safety measuring cables from the
B ENNING IT 100
- Turn the rotary switch to the switch setting "0".
9.1 S ecuringtheinstrument
Under certain circumstances safe operation of the BENNING IT 100 is no longer
ensured, for example in the case of:
-
Visible damage of the casing.
- Incorrect measurement results.
- R ecognisable consequences of prolonged storage under improper condi-
tions.
- R ecognisable consequences of extraordinary transportation stress.
In such cases the BENNING IT 100 must be switched off immediately, discon-
nected from the measuring point and secured to prevent further utilisation.
9.2 C leaning
Clean the casing externally with a clean dry cloth (exception: special cleaning
wipers). Avoid using solvents and/or scouring agents for cleaning the instru-
ment. It is important to make sure that the battery compartment and battery
contacts are not contaminated by leaking electrolyte.
If electrolyte contamination or white deposits are present in the region of the
batteries or battery casing, clean them too with a dry cloth.
9.3 B atteryreplacement
BeforeopeningtheBENNINGIT100,makequitesurethatitis

The BENNING IT 100 is powered by six 1.5 V Mignon cells (IEC/ DIN R6/
LR6). The batteries must be replaced when the battery symbol is displayed
permanently in the display and all segments are extinguished (see Section
5.1.15 and Section 8.6).
Proceed as follows to replace the batteries:
- Disconnect the safety measuring cables from the measuring circuit.
- Disconnect the safety measuring cables from the BENNING IT 100.
- Turn the rotary switch to the switch setting "0".
- L ay the BENNING IT 100 face down and release the slot screws of the bat-
tery compartment cover.
- Lift the battery compartment cover off the bottom section.
- T ake the battery holder out of the battery compartment and remove the
discharged batteries.
- I nsert the new batteries into the battery holder, observing correct polarity as
marked on the inside of the battery holder.
- P lace the battery holder into the battery compartment, making sure that no
battery connecting wires are pinched between the casing parts. Place the
battery compartment cover onto the bottom part and tighten the screws.
