8 Installation and electrical connection

In addition to these installation instructions follow and
comply with the local regulations relating to operation,
installation and environmental protection.

The Webasto PURE safety concept is based on an
power supply system that is earthed at all times.
8.1 Requirements installation space
The charging station must be protected with a line breaker
and residual current circuit breaker. The charging station is
equipped with a RDC-MD that safely isolates the charging
station from the power supply at the charge output in the
event of smooth DC fault currents > 6 mA.
A type A RCD in accordance with IEC 61008 or IEC 61009
or a type F RCD in accordance with IEC 62423 must be
connected upstream to protect against AC fault currents
and pulsating direct currents. The tripping fault current
must not be greater than 30 mA. The line circuit breaker
must conform to IEC 60898.
All specified circuit breakers must be designed such that the
charging station is disconnected all-pole from the power
supply in the case of fault.
Amount
Take into account the following points when selecting the

installation location for the Webasto PURE:

– The normal parking position of the vehicle
1
– The location of the charging plug on the vehicle
1
– A cable run from the charging station to the vehicle as
short as possible
1
– No risk of driving over the cable.
– Possible electrical connections.

If several charging stations are to be installed next to each
1
other, a spacing of at least 200 mm must be maintained
1
between the individual station.
The mounting surface must be completely flat (max. 1 mm
1
difference between the individual mounting points).

The charger casing must not sag or twist.
8.2 Criteria for the electrical connection
The charging station is set at the factory to a maximum
charging current of 32 A. The maximum charging current
can be adapted to the value of the installed circuit breaker
with the DIP-switches.
Before connecting, have the prerequisites for connection
checked by an authorised electrician.
Comply with the nationally applicable regulations of the
authorities and power supply companies, e.g. registration
of installation of a charging station.
As specified by the technical rules E VDE-AR-N 4100
(draft) 1-phase charging of vehicles is limited in
Germany to 20 A. (DIP switch 1100)
1-phase charging with 32 A charging current is
permitted in other European countries. The user is
responsible for deactivating the 20 A limit.
Dimensioning of the circuit breaker for the supply
cable
The current value of the selected residual current device
must not fall below the current value specified on the rating
plate for the charging station or that set using the DIP
switch. See chapter 8.5
When selecting the RCD, you must use the installation
regulations and standards that apply to the country in
question.
Mains isolation device
The charging station does not have its own power switch.
The protective devices installed in the power supply system
are therefore also used to disconnect the power supply.
8.3 Installation (see Fig. 14)
The supplied installation material is intended for mounting
the charging station on a concrete wall or on an external
base.
Only use the supplied installation material to install the
mounting frame.
