The following accessories are available to reduce noise and vibration:
EKSA - Anti-vibration mountings.
When installing the unit, bear the following in mind:
• non-soundproofed reflecting walls near the unit may increase the
total sound pressure level reading near the appliance by as much as 3
dB(A) for every surface;
• install suitable anti-vibration mountings under the unit to avoid
transmitting vibrations to the building structure;
• make all water connections using elastic joints. Pipes must be firmly
supported by solid structures. If the pipes are routed through walls or
panels, insulate with elastic sleeves. If, after installation and start-up of
the unit, structural vibrations are observed in the building which provoke
such strong resonance that noise is generated in other parts of the
building, consult a qualified acoustic technician for a complete analysis
of the problem.
II.5.3
INDICATIONS FOR INSTALLATION
Always be careful to respect the space requirements for product
installation specified in the technical manuals.
The machine operator and maintenance worker must be adequately
trained in the safe execution of their duties.
Always install a Y water filter of appropriate dimensions and
pressure levels at the evaporator/machine input point (mesh with a
square cross-section of maximum 0.5 to 0.8 mm if used with heat
exchangers with plates or shell and tube, respectively), and with a
diameter that is superior in respect to the diameter of the hydraulic
pipes onto which it is installed.
Periodically clean the water filter at opportune intervals according
to the characteristics of the water used (at least every 3 months of
operations).
Not cleaning the water filter will result in progressive reduction of
water flow in the exchanger, with subsequent decrease in heat
exchanges, and therefore also the unit's cooling/heating capacity, until
possible unit blockage by intervention of the hydronic circulation safety
mechanisms.
Make sure that the evaporator water flow is the same value
indicated in the technical documentation. The units are dimensioned to
function with the water flow indicated in the technical data, which
corresponds to a difference in water temperature between the inlet and
outlet of 5°C with a maximum variation of 3 to 8°C, unless otherwise
specified. Water flow values less than the technical data will result in a
reduction of heat exchange capacity in the main heat exchanger, with
subsequent decrease of heating/cooling capacity of the unit. In
particular, scarce water flow can cause an intervention of the unit safety
mechanisms, which will stop the unit and cause an alarm.
Always prepare one or more air bleeds in the hydraulic system: the
presence of air in the hydraulic circuit will compromise correct hydraulic
circulation, reducing the water flow and possible causing an intervention
by the safety mechanisms.
Keep in mind that if the pump is connected to the chiller, it can be
set on the suction side with respect to the connected buffer tank. A
vacuum breaker valve must always be set up upstream on the storage
tank so as to prevent the pump from continuing to run when no water is
present, thereby creating a depression in the buffer tank, causing
possible deformation. It is always recommended to install a water side
flow meter upstream on the pump that prevents its operation if the water
flow were to stop suddenly. The flow meter and vacuum breaker valve
are not provided with the unit but are to be installed by the installer
according to the type of system.
The hydraulic systems must ensure a minimum water content
according to the technical documentation.
Ensure that the water pressure in the hydraulic circuit is always within
the limits indicated in the technical documentation.
Do not use corrosive water containing deposits or debris. The use of
water containing chlorine will require the use of special exchangers
(indicated in the documentation when available); below is the corrosion
range with reference to brazed stainless steel heat exchangers:

Unless you are certain about the quality of the water referred to in
the above-mentioned table, or you are unsure about the presence of
foreign material that can cause gradual corrosion in the exchanger over
time, it is always recommended to insert an intermediate exchanger that
can be inspected and made of suitable material.
The reversible units, when in the heating mode, must have the
external coil periodically defrosted according to design standards
calculated for each machine family in order to prevent the formation of
ice. The formation of ice could cause dripping water from the coils.
Always bear in mind that during winter months, the water inside of
the hydraulic components within the unit could freeze. Consequently,
use an adequate amount of antifreeze liquid or drain the pipes during
periods when it is not used. All of the pertinent information is contained
in the technical documentation.
In case of snow, with the reversible heat pumps functioning in the
heating mode, the coils could become completely or partially
obstructed. This could cause machine blockage due to low pressure.
Check that the electric power supply is within admissible limits:
Voltage ± 10% of nominal value, frequency ±1% of nominal value,
unbalance between the phases < 2%.
II.6
WATER CONNECTIONS
II.6.1
CONNECTION TO THE SYSTEM
IMPORTANT!
The layout of the water system and connection of
the system to the unit must be carried out in
conformity with local and national rules in force.
IMPORTANT!
We recommend installing shut-off valves that
isolate the unit from the rest of the system.
Assemble the water filter (supplied). Clean the filter
regularly.
○ The unit is equipped with threaded male water connections and a
manual air bleed valve positioned inside the shell.
○ It is advisable to install intercept valves that isolate the unit from the
rest of the system. It is also advisable to install elastic connection joints.
○ The water flow through the heat-exchanger should not fall below a
value corresponding to a temperature differential of 8°C.
○ During long periods of inactivity, it is advisable to drain the water
from the system.
○ It is possible to avoid draining the water by adding ethylene glycol to
the water circuit (see Protecting the unit from frost).
○ The expansion tank is sized on the basis of the water content of the
individual machine. Any additional expansion tank should be sized by
the installer on the basis of the system.
○ The units are supplied with inertial storage tank, pump, expansion
tank, drain cock, safety valve and water filter (supplied).
Once the connections to the unit are made, check that none of the
pipes leak, and bleed the air from the system.
