1. Disconnect the gauge manifold yellow line from the vacuum pump and
reconnect to the liquid port of a cylinder of the required refrigerant. Purge the
yellow line and manifold with refrigerant.
2. Add refrigerant until reaching approximately 0.95 kg/2.1 lb of R-134a.
3. Close the refrigerant cylinder and the discharge pressure-side valve of the
gauge manifold.
4. Start the vehicle engine and set it to run at approximately 1000 rpm.
5. Start the refrigeration unit and adjust the set point to 0°C.
6. Run the unit until it reaches the set temperature and, if required, cover the
condenser coil during that time to maintain a discharge pressure:
• 12.5 bar with R-134a
(Rev. 3, 05/10)

7.
Open the suction-side valve of the gauge manifold and open the refrigerant
bottle valve. Slowly add refrigerant until no bubbles can be seen through the
liquid sight glass. Do not allow the suction pressure to increase more than
1.7 bar (25 psi).
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 at -20°C if the unit is to be used at that temperature.
9. Close the refrigerant bottle valve and the gauge manifold hand valve.
10. Run the unit for 15 minutes, checking the sight glass.
11. Turn off the unit, stop the vehicle and remove the gauge manifold.
