 TIPS FOR DEFROSTING
o
Microwave penetrates around 4cm into most food. To maximize the defrosting
effect, it is advisable to observe the following tips:
For thick and chunky food, turn the food regularly whilst it is defrosting in order
to obtain a uniform heating effect
If the food weighs over 0.5 kg, it is advisable to turn it at least twice
Defrosted food should be consumed as soon as possible, it is not advisable to
put it back into the fridge or to freeze it again.
 COOKING TIPS
o
The following factors may affect the cooking result:
o
Food arrangement
Place thicker areas towards outside of dish, the thinner parts towards the
centre and spread it evenly. Do not overlap if possible.
o
Cooking time
Start cooking with a short time setting, check the food after the time has
elapsed and extend it according to the actual need. Overcooking may result in
smoke and burns.
o
Cooking food evenly
Food such as chicken, hamburgers or steaks should be turned once during
cooking.
Depending on the type of food, if applicable, stir it from the outside to the
centre of the dish once or twice during cooking.
o
Allow standing time
After the cooking time elapses, leave the food in the oven for an adequate
length of time, this allows it to complete its cooking cycle and to cool down
gradually.
o
Knowing whether the food is done
The colour and hardness of the food help to determine if it is done, other signs
include:
Steam coming out from all parts of food, not just the edge
Joints of poultry can be moved easily
Pork or poultry show no signs of blood
Fish is opaque and can be sliced easily with a fork
o
Browning dish
When using a browning dish or self-heating container, always place a heat-
resistant insulator such as a porcelain plate under it to prevent damage to the
turntable and roller ring.
o
Microwave safe plastic wrap
