4.8 Gas conversion (fig. 18-18a)
It is easy to convert from one gas family to another even after the
boiler has been installed. This operation must be performed by
professionally qualified staff. The boiler is designed to work with
natural gas. The product plate indicates which fuel it has been fitted
out to use.
It is possible to convert the boiler from one kind of gas to the other
using kits which can be supplied on request:
- natural gas to LPG conversion kit
- LPG to natural gas conversion kit.
For disassembly, refer to the instructions below:
- switch off the power supply to the boiler and close the gas tap
- remove the components to access to the internal parts of the
boiler
- 25 B.S.I. model:
- remove the gas ramp (A)
- remove the nozzle (B) inside the gas ramp and replace it with
the nozzle from the kit
- 35 B.S.I. model:
- disconnect the air pressure switch wires
- unscrew the 2 screws (V) and remove the bracket and pressure
switch assembly
- disconnect the mixer gas ramp (R)
- unscrew the fixing screws (C) and relative mixer springs (D) to
fan and then remove the plastic Venturi by levering from under
the teeth (BE CAREFUL NOT TO FORCE THEM)
- loosen the plastic Venturi (E) and press from the opposite side
until it is completely extracted from the aluminium shell
- substitute mixer+nozzles with the ones contained in the kit
- reassemble the mixer with the flap in a horizontal position and
the spacer springs placed at 120° as shown in figure
- reassemble gas ramp working vice versa
- refit the bracket and pressure switch assembly on the mixer and
reconnect the air pressure switch wires (35 B.S.I. model)
- switch on the power to the boiler and turn on gas cock again
- update the fan speed and perform the gas valve calibration
referring to the paragraph 4.7 "Adjustments"
- complete and attach the data transformation label supplied
- reassemble the components previously removed.
Conversion must be carried out by qualified personnel.
Once the conversion is complete adjust the boiler as
described in the specific paragraph and affix the new
identification label supplied in the kit.
4.9 Cleaning the water tank
After removing the flange it will be possible to inspect and clean
inside the water tank and check the condition of the magnesium
anode (fig. 20).
- Turn off the hot water system stopcock and empty the water tank
through the drainage device
- Loosen the nut and extract the anode (1)
- Remove the nuts (2) blocking the external flange (3) and extract it
- Clean the inside surfaces and remove all the debris through the
opening
- Check the wear conditions of the magnesium anode (1), replace
if necessary
- Check that the gasket (4) is in good condition after extracting it
from the inside flange (5), replace if necessary.
Complete the work of cleaning, re-mount the components working
the other way round to above description.
4.10 Checking the combustion parameters
- Position the function selector on
- Turn the DHW temperature selector on
Wait until the ignition of the burner (about 6 seconds). The display
shows "ACO", the boiler operates at full power heating.
- Remove the screw C and the cover E on the air box (fig. 19).
- Insert the probes of the analyzer in the positions provided on the
air box.
The flue gas analysis probe must be fully inserted as far
as possible.
to switch off the boiler (fig. 2a).
(fig. 8a).
- Check that the CO
values match those given in the table, if the
2
value shown is different, change it as indicated in the chapter
entitled "Gas valve calibration".

- Perform the combustion check.
- Check the flue combustion.
The "combustion analysis" remains active for a time limit of 15 min;
in the event it is reached in a flow temperature of 90 °C the burner
shutdown.
It will turn back when this temperature falls below 78 °C.
If you wish to stop the process turn the hot water temperature in the
area between the "+" and "-".
Then:
- remove the analyser probe and close the sockets for combustion
analysis with the special screw
- close the instrument panel and refit the housing.
IMPORTANT
Even during the combustion analysis phase, the function that
switches the boiler off when the water temperature reaches the
maximum limit (about 90°C) remains enabled.
5 MAINTENANCE
The appliance must be systematically controlled at regular intervals
to make sure it works correctly and efficiently and conforms to
legislative provisions in force.
The frequency of controls depends on the conditions of installation
and usage, it being anyhow necessary to have a complete check
carried out by authorized personnel from the Servicing Centre
every year.
- Check and compare the boiler's performance with the relative
specifications.
Any cause of visible deterioration must be immediately identified
and eliminated.
- Closely inspect the boiler for signs of damages or deterioration,
particularly with the drainage and aspiration system and electrical
apparatus.
- Check and adjust – where necessary – all the burner's
parameters.
- Check and adjust – where necessary – the system's pressure.
- Analyze combustion. Compare results with the product's
specification.
Any loss in performance must be identified and corrected by
finding and eliminating the cause.
- Make sure the main heat exchanger is clean and free of any
residuals or obstruction.
- Check and clean – where necessary – the condensation tray to
make sure it works properly.
IMPORTANT: always switch off the power to the appliance and
close the gas by the gas cock on the boiler before carrying out any
maintenance and cleaning jobs on the boiler.
Do not clean the appliance or any latter part with flammable
substances (e.g. petrol, alcohol, etc.).
Do not clean panelling, enamelled and plastic parts with paint
solvents.
Panels must be cleaned with ordinary soap and water only.
After standard and non-standard maintenance work, fill
the siphon, following the instructions under "IGNITION
AND OPERATION".
