SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1.
All operators must be familiar with the mixer and read this entire manual. If the
mixer is used with accessories not provided or recommended by the manufacturer
or used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer, the protection provided by
the equipment may be impaired.
2.
The mixer must be securely fixed to a stable support. Mount to a Cole-Parmer
stand using a Cole-Parmer double (rod) clamp. If other stands or clamps are
used, the mixer must be secured such that it will not fall if tipped.
3.
CAUTION: This is not an explosion proof mixer. Do not use with highly flammable
or explosive materials. Do not operate the mixer in explosive atmospheres, with
hazardous substances or under water.
4.
Spinning impellers can cause severe personal injuries. Operators must use
extreme care and good judgment when mixing at any speed.
5.
All mixing paddles and impellers must be in good condition with straight shafts. If
the mixer vibrates at high speeds check the paddle shaft for damage and repair
or replace if needed.
6.
Extreme care must be taken when mixing chemicals to ensure that no chemicals
are splashed outside the mixing vessel. Care must be taken when changing to
faster mixing speeds.
7.
Ensure that the mixing impeller does not contact the containment vessel.
8.
Do not operate while standing in water. Keep the mixer dry and do not immerse
any part, except the mixing paddle, into any liquids. Protect from splashing.
9.
Ensure that no loose clothing, jewelry, or hair can become entangled in any
rotating parts. A fast spinning chuck can cause injury to operator.
10. To stop the mixer in an emergency, press the START/PAUSE button, push the
rear-panel POWER switch to the OFF position, or disconnect the mains cord.
11. Ensure the START/PAUSE button, POWER switch, and mains power cord of the
mixer can be accessed immediately, directly and without risk at any time, and
above all, in case of fault.
12. The mixer must be used with the supplied power cord. The cord and grounded
plug type are important safety elements. Always connect the mixer to a grounded
outlet. Do not alter the plug.
13. The mixer must be supplied with the voltage specified on the serial label. See
serial label.
14. Excluding procedures outlined under maintenance and troubleshooting, service
must be done by an authorized service centre.
15. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as eye protection and any
clothing suitable for the application.
16. When the mixer is ready for use to mix liquids and liquid/solid solutions, the
operator must ensure that all safety instructions are followed and must determine
appropriate impeller and container specifications.
17. The mixer can operate continuously if the torque demand falls below the
continuous torque (see Torque Capabilities).
