EMERGENCY SITUATIONS

The unit is equipped with an electronic control panel with alarm outputs to signal any serious operating problems. The
location can be equipped with gas or smoke detectors that can give the alarm if abnormal conditions occur at the site.
5.1

ALARMS

In case of alarm regarding operation of the equipment, inspect the unit to determine the nature of the problem and
contact the service department as needed.
Follow the inspection procedures outlined in par. 4.5. If any situations not covered by those paragraphs should be
found, follow the procedure described in paragraph 5.2.
5.2

SERIOUS EMERGENCIES

Exceptional events can create emergency situations with serious risks for the operators and equipment.
These are:
-
outbreaks of fire in the machine room
-
bursting of pipes or pressurized parts
-
leakage of coolant in a visible or perceptible quantity
-
short-circuits in the machine room
-
damage due to lightning
-
damage due to other natural catastrophes (earthquakes, floods, etc.)
In case of serious emergencies, proceed as follows:
a.)
Disconnect power to the machine room using the circuit breakers located outside the machine room.
b.)
Ascertain the nature of the problem, following the procedures outlined in par. 4.5 as regards safe access. If it is
not safe to access the room due to the presence of gas, steam or other unexpected hazards, proceed to item D.
c.)
In case of minor outbreaks of fire, where it is possible to enter the room (no gas, steam or hazardous
atmosphere), use the portable extinguisher to put the fire out.
d.)
Serious situations require the intervention of special squads. If there is no factory squad, call the fire
department.
e.)
Contact the service department to restore the system to working conditions.
f.)
After any serious emergency, the installation should be checked and tested before starting it up again.
NOTE: Access to the workplace under emergency conditions is particularly hazardous. Only trained personnel
provided with suitable safety gear should attempt it:
-
safety gear for prevention of burns from extreme heat and/or cold;
-
safety gear for protection of the respiratory tract, with gas mask and oxygen tank as needed.

REMOVAL AND DEMOLITION

For removal of the equipment, first collect the coolant following the normal procedures. This can be done by
specialized personnel assigned to maintenance. If you plan to demolish the unit, first remove all the lubricating oil.
The materials recovered should be consigned to firms specialized in the disposal of the different types of products.
