OPERATION
NOTE: Remove any old line remaining on the spool. Use only 0.080 in. (2 mm) diameter round
monofilament line.
■ Take sufficient length of new cutting line. Fold the line in half and then adjust it so that one end
is approximately 3.5 in. (9 cm) longer than the other (Fig. 16).
■ Hook the folded end of the cutting line onto either of the slots in the spool (Fig. 17).
■ Wind the line onto the spool. Wind the line in the direction indicated on the spool (Fig. 15 & 17).
■ Place the ends of the line in two opposite anchor slots in the spool, with some extra length of line
protruding (Fig. 18).
NOTE: Always clean the spool cover and spool base before reassembling the trimmer head.
■ Check the spool cover, spool and spool base for wear. If necessary, replace the worn parts.
■ Install the spool in the line head and replace the spool cover as described in Spool Replacement.
NOTE: Only use the appropriate type of cutting line.
FLOWER GUARD (See Figure. 19)
NOTE: The flower guard provides a visual indicator of the
maximum reach of the trimming line.
When the flower guard is swung down, it can be used as
a distance guide for use around plants, poles and fence
posts.
Adjust the Flower Guard position only when the product is switched off and the cutting device is at a
complete stop!
