7 Troubleshooting

7.1 Troubleshooting Table

SYMPTOMS
Ceiling hoist does not respond to the
hand control's buttons and up/down
buttons on the ceiling hoist are not
responding.
Ceiling hoist does not respond to the
hand control's buttons, but up/down
buttons on the ceiling hoist are
responding.
Lifting straps will only move down and
not up.
Lifting straps will only move up and not
down.
Ceiling hoist speed is the same with and
without load.
Lifting straps are twisted and do not
straighten out.
Ceiling hoist does not traverse the rails.
Ceiling hoist emits excessive noise when
activated.
Ceiling hoist will not charge
No indicator light on hoist
The emergency strap does not turn
hoist off
The emergency strap does not lower
the hoist.
If problems are not remedied by the suggested means, contact an Invacare representative.

SOLUTION
Reset the emergency stop. (Refer to
user manual)
Charge the battery or use the emergency
battery. Refer to 4.1 Charging the
Battery, page 8 .
Replace the fuse. Refer to 6.7 Replacing
the fuse, page 14.
Check that the hand control cable is
properly plugged into the hoist. Refer to
6.2 Replacing the hand control, page 13.
Replace the hand control. Refer to 6.2
Replacing the hand control, page 13.
Charge the battery or use the emergency
battery. Refer to 4.1 Charging the
Battery, page 8 .
Reduce the load. The hoist is equipped
with an over-current safety system.
Replace the hand control. Refer to 6.2

Check the loose strap function. Refer
to 7.3 Checking Loose Strap Function,
page 20.
Check the quick movement switch.

Inspect the rail system
Adjust driving wheels.
Replace the hand control.
Place the hand control in the charging
station and recharge the ceiling hoist
Check that the power supply is switched
on and connected to the charging
station.
Check that the ceiling hoist has power
supply and that the battery is recharged.
Check that the power supply is switched
on and connected to the charging
