9.3. Adjusting the drum brakes

In order to achieve the very best braking performance, adjust the bra-
king force using the adjusting screw. Braking force will be increased by
unscrewing the adjusting screw and reduced by screwing it in (Fig. 45).
Please unscrew the adjusting screw until you hear a scraping noise
when the wheel is rotating.
Then screw the adjusting screw in until the scraping noise stops.
The wheel then runs freely.

When you have finished making the adjustment, the adjusting
screw is fixed by tightening the locknut.

9.4. Adjusting the anti-tip wheels

Anti-tip wheels prevent the wheelchair from tipping over backwards.
Adjust the gap between wheel and floor to approx. 30 - 50 mm:
pull the disc back and move the anti-tip wheels along the guide
(Fig. 46).
Anti-tip wheels are particularly recommended for inexperienced
wheelchair users or amputees.

If the user does not need anti-tip wheels, you can push these to the
upper position or pull them out completely (see Chapter 4.9.2).

Repairs and servicing work must only be carried out by authorised part-

To adjust the brakes, contact your dealer. Please bear
in mind that if the brakes are set incorrectly this can
have life-threatening consequences.
For safety reasons, always use the anti-tip wheels
as a pair!
