2.5 SAFETY INFORMATION RELATING TO STARTING UP THE
DEVICE
• Never allow children to use the device.
• Never use the machine while people or animals are nearby. Local regulations may restrict the
age of the user.
• Wear hearing protection, safety goggles and safety boots. Wear them at all times when
operating the machine.
• Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or items with dangling ribbons or cords.
• Always wear sturdy footwear and long trousers when operating the machine. Do not operate
the machine when barefoot or when wearing light sandals.
• Only use the machine outdoors in an open space (i.e. not close to a wall or other solid structures)
and on a firm, level surface.
• Do not use the machine on a paved, gravelled surface where ejected material could cause injury.
• Before starting up the machine, check that all the screws, nuts, bolts and other fixings are tight
and that covers and protective guards are in place. Replace any damaged or illegible stickers.
• Always check the power cord and extension cable for signs of damage or ageing before use. If
the cable is damaged during use, it must be disconnected from the mains supply immediately.
DO NOT TOUCH THE CABLE UNTIL IT IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAINS. Do not use the
machine if the cable is damaged or worn.
2.6 SAFETY INFORMATION RELATING TO OPERATION

• ATTENTION! Before startup, check that all the screws, nuts, bolts and other fixings, and in
particular protective fixtures, are properly secured.
• Ensure that the feed hopper is empty before starting the machine.
• Keep your head and body away from the intake opening.
• Ensure that you keep your hands, other body parts and clothing out of the intake opening and
discharge chute, and away from any other moving parts.
• Always ensure that you keep your balance and a firm footing.
• Do not stretch forward. Never stand higher than the machine when feeding in material.
• Always stay outside the ejection zone when starting up the machine.
• When feeding in material, pay particular attention to ensure that it does not contain metal,
stones, bottles, tins or other foreign objects.
• If foreign objects get into the cutting tool, or if the machine makes unusual noises or vibrates
unusually, switch off the motor immediately, let the machine come to a stop and pull out the
mains plug:
- Check the machine for damage.
- Check that all the parts are secure and retighten them if necessary.
- Have any damaged parts replaced or repaired with parts of equivalent quality.
• Do not allow processed material to accumulate inside the ejection area. This could prevent
proper ejection and force the material back up through the intake opening.
• If the machine's intake opening or discharge chute becomes blocked, switch off the motor and
pull out the mains plug before clearing any material left in the intake opening or discharge
cutting
