• Do not use any electrical equipment in potentially explosive environments (e.g. in the presence
of flammable liquids, gases or dust). Electrical equipment produces sparks that can ignite dust
or exhaust fumes.
• When working with the device, other people, especially children, must always keep a safe
distance. You may lose control of the device if you are distracted.
• Only use the shredder in places that are protected from water. Never use the device outdoors
when it is raining.
• Leave enough space around the shredder. Place it on a firm and level surface and not too close
to walls.
2.3 GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION RELATING TO THE
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
• The plugs of electrical equipment must be compatible with the socket. Never change the plug.
Do not use adapter plugs with earthed electrical equipment. Original plugs and matching
sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.
• Use the cable only for its intended purpose. Never use the cable to carry, pull or unplug the
electrical equipment. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts.
Damaged or twisted cables increase the risk of electric shock.
• When operating electrical equipment outdoors, use an extension cord that is suitable for
outdoor use.
• If operating electrical equipment in a damp environment is unavoidable, use a residual current
circuit breaker for personal protection purposes.
• The product requires a power supply of 230 – 240 V ~50 Hz. Please check that the appropriate
power supply is available before use.
• If this device's power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its Customer
Service team or a similarly qualified individual to avoid a hazard. Damaged cables and plugs
must only be repaired by a qualified professional.
• Ensure that the cable cannot be tripped over or pinched to prevent damage to the cable.
2.4 USING AND MAINTAINING ELECTRICAL ITEMS
• Stay alert at all times, and always pay attention to what you are doing while operating electrical
equipment. Do not use electrical equipment when you are tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medication.
• Avoid unintentional startup. Ensure that the switch is off before plugging in the mains plug.
Carrying electrical equipment with your finger on the switch or plugging in electrical equipment
while the switch is on may cause accidents.
• Wear appropriate clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothing and
gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery and long hair may get caught in
moving parts.
• Wear personal protective equipment. Wearing personal protective equipment (e.g. safety
goggles, a dust mask, non-slip safety boots, a hard hat and hearing protection) depending on
the type of device and how it is used reduces the risk of injury.
• Remove any adjustment tools or spanners before switching on the machine. A tool or spanner
left in a rotating part of the device can cause injury.
• Ensure that your posture is appropriate. Ensure that you are standing securely and keep your
balance at all times. This gives you better control of the device in unexpected situations.
