4.
Remove the oil filter cartridge with an oil filter
wrench.

TIP
An oil filter wrench is available at a Yamaha dealer.
5.
Apply a thin coat of clean engine oil to the O-ring of
the new oil filter cartridge.

TIP
Make sure that the O-ring is properly seated.
6.
Install the new oil filter cartridge with an oil filter
wrench, and then tighten it to the specified torque
with a torque wrench.

Oil filter cartridge tightening torque:
14 N·m (1.4 kgf·m, 10 lb·ft)
7.
Check the oil drain bolt, oil filler cap and gasket.
Replace them if damaged.
8.
Install a new gasket and the oil drain bolt and then
tighten the bolt.
Oil drain bolt tightening torque:
27 N·m (2.7 kgf·m, 20 lb·ft)
9.
Fill the specified amount of the recommended
engine oil from the oil filler hole.

NOTICE
Be sure no foreign material enters the crankcase.
