With your E-765, you will find an expander
specifically developed for the E-765 pivot and
pre-assembled at the factory.
INSTALLATION OF THE EXPANDER
1 - Ensure that your fork is properly cut, at 5 mm
below the contact surface of your stem. The
expander has a head thickness of 2 mm, so it
should be placed on the cut of the fork pivot, with
its upper surface reaching about 3 mm below the
surface of the stem.
2 - Degrease the inside of the fork pivot (using
isopropyl alcohol) at the area where the expander
will be inserted, and do not add any oily products.
3 - Loosen the locking screw so that you can slide
the expander into the fork pivot without forcing it.
4 - Lightly screw the expander into the pivot by
tightening the screw.
5 - Using a torque wrench with a 5 mm Allen bit,
tighten the screw to a torque of 8 Nm.
6 - Place the screw and cap.
7 - Take up the play in the headset by tightening
with a torque wrench. Be careful not to exceed 2 Nm.
8 - To check if the play has been properly taken up,
you need to:
. 8.1 - Tighten the rear screws of the stem to a torque
of 5 Nm.
EXPENDER
. 8.2 - Check for play in the headset.
