2.5. Lockout/Tagout Procedure (LOTO)
The following is a LOTO procedure intended for the technician to review prior to
starting work on the charger where LOTO can be applied. It is necessary to comply
with these steps to safely access the Charger.
Step 1.
Notify Affected Employees
Notify any employees that may be affected by turning off the power prior to shut-
ting down the power.
Step 2.
Identify Procedures and Hazards
Read all safety instructions prior to shutting down power to be aware of all war-
nings and cautions.
Step 3.
Shut Down and Isolate Charger from Power Source
Shut off power by identifying the energy source of the charger and disconnect the
power cable or shut down the energy source device.
Step 4.
Apply Lockout/Tagout to Device
To prevent manipulation of the equipment or accidental startup, apply the neces-
sary lockout/tagout device. This includes a lock to secure the power device in the
OFF position and a tag stating "Danger" and the name of the employee perfor-
ming the LOTO procedure.
Step 5.
Check Stored Energy
Once the charger has been isolated from the energy source, ensure all residual en-
ergy is drained from the equipment before beginning the maintenance or service
repair.
RISK OF DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT
Do not operate this equipment in temperatures outside its operating
range of -40°F to +131°F (-40°C to +55°C).
RISK OF DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT
Store this equipment in a clean dry place in temperatures between
-40°F to +176°F (-40°C and +80°C).
