Operating your Bosch ABS
General Safety Instructions
Read all the safety and general instruc-
tions. Failure to follow the warnings and
instructions may result in electric shock,
fire and/or serious injury.
Save all safety warnings and instructions for fu-
ture reference.
The term eBike battery used in these operating in-
structions refers to all original Bosch eBike batteries
from the system generation the smart system.
The term ABS is used in these instructions to mean all
original Bosch eBike anti-blocking systems from the
system generation the smart system.
The ABS function/usefulness will be signifi-

cantly impaired if the ABS setting on the eBike
is changed from the setting it was delivered
with. Impaired performance will significantly in-
crease the risk of injury to the rider and/or dam-
age to the eBike.
Read and observe all the safety warnings and di-
u
rections contained in these operating instruc-
tions and in the operating instructions of your
eBike and the brake manufacturer.
In these operating instructions, the safety instruc-
tions are divided into the following categories:
– WARNING – Danger with medium risk level,
Failure to follow may result in death or serious in-
jury.
– CAUTION – Danger with low risk level,
Failure to follow may result in minor or moderate in-
jury.
– NOTE – Special instructions to improve handling.
These are applicable for operation, checking, ad-
justment and maintenance.
General safety instructions for the ABS
Tampering with the system components is not

permitted under any circumstances. The rider

must adapt their riding style to the environmen-
tal conditions (e.g. the amount of traction/grip
between the tires and the ground, steep in-
clines, weather, additional loads, etc.). Carrying
an additional load that changes the vehicle's
center of gravity in any way (e.g. a basket or a
child seat on the handlebars), which could in-
crease the tendency to tip over, is not recom-
mended.
WARNING – Tampering with components of the

ABS will prevent it from working correctly.
If any components of the braking system or the ABS
are tampered with, modified, or replaced with
unauthorized components, this may prevent the
ABS from working as it should. Correct operation
cannot be guaranteed and there is a greater risk of
falling. Servicing and repairs must always be car-
ried out by authorized professionals. Defective
parts must always be replaced with original parts.
WARNING – only use the brake fluid specified by

the relevant brake manufacturer
Only the brake fluid intended for the respective
foundation brake and specified by the relevant
brake manufacturer may ever be used as brake
fluid. If another brake fluid is used, correct opera-
tion cannot be guaranteed and there is a greater
risk of falling over. Servicing and repairs must al-
ways be carried out by authorized professionals.
WARNING – only use the original brake pads

Only the original brake pads intended for the re-
spective foundation brake may ever be used as
brake pads. If another brake pad is used, correct
operation cannot be guaranteed and there is a
greater risk of falling over and braking distance will
increase. Servicing and repairs must always be car-
ried out by authorized professionals.
WARNING – size of brake discs can only be mod-

ified after approval by the eBike manufacturer
