4.6 CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FUEL
Only
burn
natural,
maximum 20% humidity.
Freshly cut wood can contain up to 60% water
and is therefore not suitable for burning.
Wood is ideally dried for approximately 2 years.
Wood that is too old is also unsuitable for burning.
The wood must be kept and dried in a well-
ventilated place, and if it is outdoors it needs to
be protected against the rain, if it is indoors there
needs to be good air circulation.
Store the wood already cut to size for use so that
it can dry easily.
The wood can be kept in stacks, being careful to
keep it raised off the ground, with a supporting
surface that allows air to pass, such as, for example,
boards or pallets that help it dry and avoid the
formation of rot and damp. For the same reason
it is a good idea to leave a few centimetres of
space between stack and wall.
If unseasoned wood is used with a high
percentage
of
condensation in the flue duct, thereby altering
the draught and causing soot to deposit in the
firebox, on the glass and in the flue pipe with the
risk of it catching fire. Obviously the stove will
yield less.
In the wood stove you can use wood logs with a
maximum length of 50 cm.
4.7 NON-PERMITTED FUELS
We recommend not using the following materials
as fuel:
• excessively humid wood
• treated wood (painted, lacquered, glued wood
etc.);
• sawdust or chips
• liquid fuel
• coal or other fossil fuels
• plastic and derivatives
• treated paper and cardboard
• waste
• fuels that release toxic or polluting substances.
Using these fuels, on top of being forbidden
due to the emission of polluting and harmful
substances, causes the stove to deteriorate more
rapidly and debris to accumulate in the stove
and in the smoke evacuation system, thereby
reducing performance and safety.
The gases produced by these fuels are dangerous
for the environment and for your health!
Using fuel that is not compliant with the above
will void the warranty.
