Use & Maintenance
WATER CONSUMPTION
- Do not leave the water tap running unnecessarily: this is a simple but effective rule for saving
water.
- Check that the taps are tightly closed: take care to avoid drips; in the event of continuous leakage,
service them quickly.
- Consider using tap water (when drinkable) instead of bottled water: waste (plastic bottles) will
therefore be avoided, as well as the pollution caused by its transport.
- Use taps with a jet breaker, which must be replaced periodically: water consumption will be
significantly reduced.
- Not using the dishwasher and washing machine when they are not fully loaded will reduce
unnecessary waste of water as well as energy.
- Never exceed the detergent doses recommended by the manufacturers and check the quality of
the detergent according to the hardness of the water; this will reduce water consumption.
- Allow the residual water from cooking (e.g. after boiling vegetables) to cool and use it to water
plants.
- Try to buy washing machines and dishwashers with low water consumption (e.g. class A): the
initial economic investment, compared to lower energy classes, justifies future economic and
energy savings.
WASTE RECYCLING
- Avoid producing unnecessary waste.
- Sort the waste produced as much as possible and separate it for recycling or recovery.
- Choose products packaged in recycled or easily recyclable packaging, such as single-material
packaging.
- Squash down bulky waste whenever possible (bottles, cans, boxes).
- If you have a garden or a large balcony, use organic and green waste to produce compost for
your flowers.
KITCHEN CLEANING
- Do not overuse detergents if not necessary; for cleaning lightly soiled surfaces, use a slightly
moistened microfibre cloth.
- Try to use detergents that are more environmentally friendly (such as those with the ECOLABEL
label that certifies the product has a lower environmental impact in its lifecycle) and with
packaging that has less impact on the environment.
- Prefer the use of the dishwasher (with a full load) to hand-washing: modern dishwashers require
much less water and detergent than the corresponding hand washing.
