7.4 TRANSPORTATION OF THE OCCUPIED WHEELCHAIR IN A VEHICLE
Even when the ARIA wheelchair is correctly fixed and the following rules are followed, there could be injuries to the
passengers in the event of an impact or an abrupt stop. Therefore, Aria Wheels Srl strongly recommends to transfer
the user of the wheelchair onto a seat of the vehicle and to fasten his seatbelt.
Do not make any modifications or substitutions to the wheelchair (structure, framework or parts) without a written
consent by Aria Wheels Srl.
WARNING!
Risk of sever injuries or death
To use the wheelchair as a seat in the vehicle the height of the backrest must be of at
least 400mm.
For the transportation of the occupied wheelchair inside a vehicle, this must have a securement system installed
WARNING!
If, for any reason, it is not possible to transfer the user of the wheelchair onto a
seat of the vehicle, the wheelchair can be used as a seat in a vehicle as long as the
following rules and procedures are followed:
-The wheelchair must be fixed in the vehicle using a four-point securement system for
wheelchairs.
-The user must wear a three-point securement system for passengers fixed to the
vehicle.
-In the wheelchair the user must have the posture support belt fastened.
Both the four-point securement system for wheelchairs and the three-point securement system for passengers have
to be approved in compliance to the ISO 10542-1:2012 regulation
WARNING!
Before setting off, contact the person responsible for transportation and request
information on the availability of the equipment here listed.
Ensure there is enough free space around the wheelchair and the user to avoid the
latter touching other passengers of the vehicle, non-padded parts of the vehicle, the
accessories of the wheelchair and the anchoring points of the securement system.
WARNING!
Verify that the lifting points of the wheelchair are not damaged and that the parking
brakes work perfectly.
The use of anti puncture tyres is recommended for transportation to avoid problems
with the brakes due to the reduction in pressure of the tyres.

WARNING!
Injuries or damages could verify themselves due to components or
accessories of the wheelchair loosening after an impact or an abrupt stop.
Ensure that all removable or extractable components and accessories are
removed from the wheelchair and stored safely in the vehicle.
It is fundamental that the wheelchair is checked by a specialist after an
accident, collision etc.
IMPORTANT!
It is recommended to provide training on the correct use of a product with a
securement system.
Refer to the user's manual supplied with the securement system.
The following pictures can differ depending on the securement system's supplier.
