USE
Plug the appliance in and switch on using the on/off button.
STEP 1: "COARSE" SHARPENING
1.
Slide the knife into one of the "coarse" sharpening slots
(2 slots on the left-hand side of the appliance carrying the number 1) placing
the knife handle as close as possible to the appliance.
2.
Pull the knife regularly in the blade-guide slot.
As soon as the knife comes into contact with the sharpening stone, you
must pull the handle slowly towards you, exerting constant, light pressure
downwards. If you sharpen a knife with a curved blade, you must raise the
handle slightly when approaching the tip of the blade so that it remains in
contact with the grindstone. Change slot with each stroke. It takes 4 to 5
seconds for a 20 cm blade, 2 to 3 seconds for a shorter blade and 6 seconds
for a blade longer than 20 cm in length. Three strokes per slot are enough for
the first step.
IMPORTANT;
·
Pull the knife toward you as soon as you slide the blade into the slot.
·
Never push the blade in the opposite direction.
·
Make sure that the pressure you exert is sufficient to keep the blade in contact with the grindstone.
STEP 2: "FINE" SHARPENING
1.
Slide the knife into one of the "fine" sharpening slots (2 slots on the right-hand side of the appliance
carrying the number 2).
2.
Place the knife handle as close as possible to the appliance and pull towards you. This takes about 3
seconds. Change slot each time and carry out three strokes per slot.
If, after sharpening, metal fragments remain on your blade, you can remove these as follows:
·
Switch off the appliance.
·
Slide the blade into the fine sharpening slot again.
·
Pull the knife towards you, once on each side.
·
The particles that came loose when sharpening will have now disappeared.
FREQUENT QUESTIONS
I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS AND YET MY KNIVES ARE NOT SHARP.
When knives have not been sharpened for a long time, or when they have been sharpened incorrectly,
you may need to perform all of the above steps again. Hardened steel knives take more time to become
sharp. In this case, you must repeat the steps above until the knives are sharp. We recommend that you
sharpen your knives regularly to make sure they are always ready to use.
THE APPLIANCE STOPS FROM TIME TO TIME.
This is a safety feature. You may have exerted too much pressure on the grindstone. Light downward
pressure is sufficient, just enough to ensure that the knife stays in contact with the grindstone. If you exert
too much pressure, you will not achieve an even result.
