3 - RETROFIT FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF R-410A BY R-454B
3.1. Kit components
The elements that make up this retrofi t kit are:
● Specific leak detector for A2L refrigerants (mandatory
installation).
Note: All the necessary elements for connection are sent next
to the detector.
● High pressure switches for refrigerant R-454B.
● New software version 14.3 of Vectic control.
● Flammable gas sticker.
● List with all components of the unit with PED category change.
3.2. Procedure
Important: The customer must perform a risk analysis prior
to the execution of the retrofi t.
Important: All safety advice given in Chapter 2 of this document
must be followed during the retrofi t procedure.
Caution: Before performing any work on the machine ensure it
is de-energised. Verify that the main power to the unit is cut off .
Step 1: Discharge of refrigerant R-410A
● Remove the complete charge using an specifi c recovery unit
for R-410A. The refrigerant must be stored in mobile certifi ed
containers.
● Always check that there is no refrigerant in the cooling circuit,
by rinsing with a neutral gas (such as nitrogen) and checking
that it fl ows correctly. Successive purges are recommended
to remove all refrigerant.
Never use oxygen to purge lines, as this gas can react violently
with oil and other common substances.
Step 2: Replacement of high pressure switches
● Then the high pressure switch of each of the circuits should
be replaced.
Specifi ed pressure to activate switch:
R-410A: 42,0 bar.
R-454B: 40,5 bar.

Note: If the unit incorporates a cooling recovery circuit (CR
and CT assemblies) the previous operations must also be
performed on it.
Step 3: Installation of the leak detector
It is mandatory to install the leak detector for A2L
refrigerants.
The position of the sensor that ensures the correct reading of the
gas concentration in the indoor coil is shown in the picture below.

● The following components are required for installation:
- The sensor and its cable with connector.
- Wall bushing of 67 mm.
- Flange 2247.
Cut the bushing through the 5th ring to
match the 40 mm diameter (marked in
blue in the attached image).
Insert the sensor through the bushing and fi x its position with
the aid of the fl ange.
