IMPORTANT: overlooking or disregarding any of the following instructions regarding how to use and don the product while being exposed to
dangerous substances, may lead to serious professional diseases or permanent damages.
1. APPLICABLE STANDARDS & CERTIFICATIONS
SPASCIANI SPA's half-masks are PPE classified in the III category as defined in the Regulation EU 2016/425, meet the requirements of the har-
monized standard EN 140:1998 "Respiratory protective devices - Half masks and quarter masks" and have the following reference standard:
EN 148-1 "Standard thread connection" (applied only to the ST 85 model)
EN 143 "Particle filters"
EN 14387 "Gas filters and Combined filters"
The notified body n°0426 Italcert S.r.l. - Viale Sarca, 336 - 20126 Milano – Italia has issued the EU type-examination certificate and it' s responsible for
the the conformity assessment procedure of the production process according to Module D of Regulation EU 2016/425.
2. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The half-mask DUO (p/n 102000000) and DUETTA (p/n 102530000) come with two special bayonet connectors and must be utilized with the
cartridges with special connector (2000 series), while the half-mask ST 85 (p/n 111200000) has a standard thread EN 148-1 (40x1/7") and must
be used with filters with the standardized thread and a weight of less than 300 g. In both cases, the filters and cartridges must be compliant with
the EN 143 and EN 14387. The facepiece is the connection point between the filters and the user's respiratory system and, if used by itself, is not
a respiratory protective device. To use it, it is necessary to also follow the instructions provided with the filters and the general safety provisions
applicable in the intended situation. See "SELECTION OF RESPIRATORY PROTECTIVE DEVICES."
3. STRUCTURE AND OPERATION
The half masks consist of (see Fig.1, 2, 3, 4):
• Anatomically shaped facepiece
- DUO - made of moulded TPE (Fig.1, part e)
- DUETTA - made of co-moulded nylon with TPE (Fig.3, part 1)
- ST 85 - made of rubber (Fig.4, part a)
• Head harness
- DUO - with a 4-point elastic strap attachment (Fig.1, points b, d), featuring a moulded polyethylene neck pad (Fig.1, part a) and
quick-adjust buckles
- DUETTA - an elastic fabric strap (Fig.3, points B, E) and a nylon quick-adjust neck pad (Fig.3, part A)
- ST 85 - with a 4-point elastic strap attachment (Fig.4, part b), featuring a moulded polyethylene neck pad (Fig.4, part c) and quick-adjust
buckles (Fig.4, part d)
• Exhalation system
- DUO - mushroom-shaped rubber exhalation valve protected by a snap-on pre-chamber cover (Fig.1, points f, h, g)
- DUETTA - mushroom-shaped rubber exhalation valve closed by a cover (Fig.3, part 4.2) directly mounted on the facepiece
- ST 85 - two exhalation valves on the sides of the facepiece (Fig.4, part e), consisting of two valve holders and two rubber membranes
mounted on cover caps (Fig.4, part h)
• Connection and inhalation system
- DUO - two bayonet connectors (Fig.1-2, part i) made of impact-resistant and solvent-resistant plastic material, with two inhalation
membranes (Fig.1, part l) where the filters (Fig.2, part q) from the Spasciani 2000 series should be applied, selected appropriately
- DUETTA - two integrated bayonet connectors on the facepiece (Fig.3, part b) made of impact-resistant and solvent-resistant plastic
material, with two inhalation membranes (Fig.3, part 5) where the filters (Fig.2, part q) from the Spasciani 2000 series should be ap-
plied, selected appropriately
- ST 85 - a standardized EN 148-1 threaded connection for using screw-on filters (Fig.4, part f), with an inhalation membrane positioned
(Fig.4, part i)
4. USE
4.1. Usage Limits
The half mask provides protection against gases and/or aerosols (such as dust, fumes, and mists) depending on the filter used. It should be noted
that the half masks are only intended for use in atmospheres contaminated with low concentrations of gases and vapours, and the use of any
filter respirator is limited to environments where the air contains at least 17% oxygen by volume. For the recommended usage limits, please
refer to the instructions provided with the filters. In particular, the ST 85 half mask can only be used with filters weighing less than 300 grams.
Please be aware that hair, beards, or moustaches in the area of contact between the facepiece and the face can compromise the seal and make
