7. If necessary, attach the tag supplied with the sensor to the gas detector.
For specific information, refer to the sensor data sheet.

WARNING
Risk of explosion!
The simultaneous connection of wired power supply and battery endangers the
intrinsic safety and leads to the expiration of the explosion protection approval.
► Do not connect the wired power supply and battery at the same time.

Connecting the wired power supply
WARNING
Risk of explosion!
If the gas detector is opened in a potentially explosive dust atmosphere, an
explosion may occur.
► Do not open the gas detector in dust explosion-hazard areas. Alternatively,
declassify the dust explosion-hazard area beforehand.
Do not operate the gas detector with a DC power supply, but use a power
supply unit of protection Class II or NEC Class II instead.
There must be a direct connection between the device and the supply
voltage (except for supply lines).
For information on cable specifications or operational parameters, refer to
"Technical data", page 58.
Prerequisites:
–
Explosion-hazard areas: The power supply is provided via a safety barrier,
which ensures intrinsic safety of the gas detector.
Observe maximum capacity and inductance of the cable for the connection
to the safety barrier.
Dräger recommends the following safety barriers: Pepperl + Fuchs
SMART Transmitter Power Supply KFD2-STC5-Ex1 or KCD2-STC-Ex1.

Connect the wired power supply:
1. Use PolySoft to configure the gas detector for operation with hard-wired
power supply.
2. Connect the grounding cable to the fastening screw for equipotential
bonding (Fig. A 17).
3. Prepare the installation:
a. Loosen the locking screw (Fig. A 14).
b. Turn the housing cover (Fig. A 1) approx. 20° counterclockwise and
remove it.
c. Pull out the battery box (Fig. A 2).
d. Remove both fastening screws for the trim plate (Fig. A 11).
e. Remove the trim plate.
f.
Loosen the blind plug (Fig. A 6).
g. Mount the cable gland. Follow the instructions in the documentation of
the cable gland manufacturer.
4. Connect the connecting cable:
a. Mount the 2-wire connecting cable in the cable gland, cut to length and
strip (approx. 80 mm).
b. Connect both wires of the connecting cable to connection terminals. Pay
attention to the polarity.
5. Complete the installation:
a. Insert the trim plate.
b. Fasten the trim plate with both fastening screws.
c. Fit the protective cap (Fig. A 3) to the battery contacts in the housing.
6. Close the gas detector:
a. Place the housing cover in the final position (Dräger logo horizontal).
