INSTALL THE 7/12-PIN CONNECTOR
NOTE:
IF VEHICLE IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH THE 5TH-WHEEL PREP PACKAGE, YOU WILL NEED TO
REPLACE THE 7/4-PIN TRAILER CONNECTOR IN THE BUMPER WITH A 7/12-PIN CONNECTOR
(AVAILABLE FROM YOUR FORD DEALER) TO SUPPORT THE 5TH-WHEEL TRAILER SENSOR.
5a. The connector has locking tabs that secure it to the back surface of the bumper that can be released by hand.
To release the connector, reach under the bumper and squeeze the locking tabs together to release the
7/4-pin connector.

Disconnect the current wiring from the 7/4-pin connector by depressing the locking tabs on the wiring
connector.
5c. Plug the vehicle side wiring harness for the 7-pin connector into the round socket on the back of the 7/12-pin
connector.
5d. An additional wiring harness connector is clipped behind the bumper above the rear edge of the spare tire.
(Refer to Figure 7). Unclip the harness and plug the connector into the 12-pin side of the 7/12-pin connector.
(Refer to Figure 8).
5e. Secure the 7/12-pin connector by pushing it back into the bumper until the locking tabs click into place. Gently
tug on the sensor to ensure it is secure
