CAUTION: ENSURE VEHICLE AND TRAILER ARE PARKED ON LEVEL GROUND AND TRAILER IS
SECURELY CONNECTED TO VEHICLE, OR TRAILER IS HELD IN PLACE WITH WHEEL
CHOCKS BEFORE INSTALLING THE TRAILER SENSOR.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1.
SENSOR ATTACHMENT LOCATION
1a. Determine a suitable location to install the sensor on your trailer that meets these guidelines:
• Attach on a vertical surface of the trailer that rotates with your trailer when you turn your vehicle.
NOTE: Do not attach to a surface that is fastened to the vehicle, such as the 5th-wheel hitch.
• Attach on a vertical surface with the arrows on the housing pointed up. (Refer to Figure 1).
• Attach on a vertical surface close to front of trailer to allow the wiring harness to reach the 12-pin socket on the
truck. The 12-pin socket will be in the bed if the vehicle is equipped with 5th Wheel Prep Package. If you did not
purchase the 5th-Wheel Prep Package, you will need to purchase and install the 7/12-pin socket in the bumper.
• Consider the swing of the trailer when installing the sensor. Make sure that the sensor cable will not get
caught, pinched, or pulled when the trailer turns.
• Mud, dirt, and other road debris can impact the performance and life of the sensor. Attach the sensor where it
will not be exposed to road or salt spray from the tires.
• For best performance and ease of use, the sensor should remain on the same trailer. Additional sensors can
be purchased from your dealer.

2.
ATTACHING THE SENSOR
The sensor can be attached with the included bracket and adhesive tape, or tie straps. Adhesive tape attachment
is best suited for installation on flat, clean surfaces such as a 5th-wheel pin box or large frame section. Tie strap
attachment can be used for a vertical post, such as a gooseneck-style trailer post.
2a. Prepare the attachment location by removing any debris, chipping paint, or rust and wipe the surface clean.
2b. For adhesive attachment, remove protective backing from adhesive. With arrows pointed up place the
assembled sensor housing and mounting plate on a vertical surface of the trailer. Push firmly against trailer,
pressing firmly against each corner of the sensor housing. (Refer to Figure 2).
NOTE:
DO NOT INSTALL ADHESIVE WHEN TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 32° F (0° C).
2c. For tie strap attachment, detach the bracket from the housing. Set the sensor housing so the post fits in the
v-notch of the housing with the arrows on the housing pointed up. (Refer to Figure 3). Wrap two 34-inch (86mm)
tie straps, one in the top groove and one in the bottom groove of the sensor housing assembly and pull tight.
(Refer to Figure 4).
