6. Safety cut-out : an electrical or equivalent sensor system
is mounted to the rear cross member of the vehicle floor,
stopping the engaged movement when activated. [See
Fig. 1.8 and Annex B.2.5 of EN1756-1 for column HTL]

7. Automatic toe protector : idem as the hinged foot pro-
tector mounted to the platform, but with an automatic ar-
ticulation from horizontal to vertical position (and inverse)
as the platform lowers or raises. [See Fig. 1.10 and Annex
B.2.6 of EN1756-1]
8. Assigned operator position : the platform and / or vehi-
cle floor are marked with a clear and permanently marked
safe-working zone of min. 400x400 mm, set at least
250mm from the hazard zone between the platform and
the vehicle floor. [See Fig. 1.11 and Annex B.2.7 of
EN1756-1]
Although not foreseen by EN1756-1, it is
strongly recommended to add the safe-working
zone whenever any one of the alternatives 1-7
for the foot controls is adopted, but as a mini-
mum in conjunction with the methods 1, 2, 3 and
6.

European Standard EN1756-1:2001+A1:2008
(Annex B, Crushing & shearing) and EN811 for
detailed information.
HTL can only be used by operators who know,
understand and master all aspects of the safety
instructions included in the user's manual. He
must carry clear instructions from his employer
to work from the safe-working zone only.
