Please contact Elite for additional info on where
to purchase a Kura compatible wired sensor.
Alternatively, if you're using compatible apps/
software/ devices, you can also use a wireless
cadence sensor by connecting it directly to the
app/software/device.

POWER SUPPLY

Kura needs no external power supply. It has a
rechargeable battery that recharges via a small
generator. The battery continues to work even
when the cyclist stops and recharges when
pedalling begins again.
There is also a micro USB connector to recharge
from an external power source (power supply or
portable battery) in case of an emergency.
After long periods of non-operation, the Trainer's
battery may discharge. To keep the trainer on
while simultaneously recharging the battery, it is
necessary to pedal or, alternatively, it is possible
to connect the USB plug to a power source.

STATUS LEDS

Kura broadcasts speed, cadence and power
data through the ANT™+ and Bluetooth Smart
protocols.
On the control board there are 3 LEDs, which
identify the power status and the operation of
the card itself, as well as communicate which
protocol is being used.
The LED lights have 3 colors:
Red = identifies the trainer's power supply:
- Red LED operation during training:
• Flashing (1 second) = indicates that the Kura's
battery is low (< 25%)
• Steady light = The battery has a charge > 25%
or is connected to the micro USB plug.
- Red LED operation in power saving mode:
• Flashing (every 5 seconds) = when connected to
the micro USB plug and battery is being charged.
• Steady light = when connected to the micro
USB plug and battery is charged.
• Off when not connected to the micro USB plug
Green = identifies the operation of Kura with the
ANT™+ protocol.
• Flashing = waiting for a connection.
• Steady = Kura is connected with My E-Training
app, utilizing the ANT™+ protocol.
Blue = identifies the Kura's operation with
Bluetooth Smart protocol.
• Flashing = waiting for a connection.
• Steady light = Kura is transmitting data utilizing
the Bluetooth Smart protocol.

DATA TRANSMISSION

Kura transmits speed, cadence and power data
by internal sensors.
Speed is read and transmitted by an internal
sensor.
Warning: if Kura is used with a non-Elite app/
software/device, a wheel circumference value
equal to the real value of the wheel divided by
3.43 must be set in the sensor configuration.
For instance: if wheel circumference is 2095mm,
the circumference input value is 2095 / 3.43 =
611 mm.
Cadence value is calculated via a complex
algorithm without the need of an external sensor
on the bike.
Under certain pedalling conditions due to changes
in chain tension, the algorithm may not work
correctly and can display inaccurate data. These
conditions are common when using lower gears
at a high cadence. In this case we suggest using
an external wired cadence sensor compatible
with Kura (Please visit www.shopelite-it.com).
The Kura motherboard features a jack to connect
a wired cadence sensor. This wired sensor can
be plugged in at any time and will transmit an
accurate cadence value.
Speed and cadence values are transmitted via
the standard Speed and Cadence protocol, both
ANT™+ and Bluetooth Smart.
The power value is not the result of a calculation
but is measured by a precise internal sensor; this
value is the power the rider is actually developing
and takes into account all factors that might
influence its final value.
Measuring values this way ensures the highest
possible precision, not unlike a classic ergometer
placed on the pedal, on the crank or hub.
Power value is transmitted via the standard Power
protocol, both ANT™+ and Bluetooth Smart.
