Starting on the left-hand side of the bike, using your ratchet, remove the engine mount bolt
arrowed in picture 1 (DO NOT REMOVE BOTH ENGINE BOLTS AT THE SAME TIME).
Assemble the left-hand side assembly as shown in the assembly diagram (page 3). To do this, slide
one 5mm spacer (Item 2 - S0293) over one M10 x 160mm bolt (item 1) (This spacer will sit inside
the crash protector to correct the bolt length).
Next, place one M10 washer (item 3) onto the bolt, followed by locking washer (item 4) and one
M10 crash protector (item 5) so that the serrated edge of the locking washer sits against the
recessed inner face of the crash protector.
Next, place the longer 50mm spacer (item 6 – S0732) over the exposed end of the bolt as shown
in the assembly diagram.
Place the assembly into the position of the previously removed LHS engine bolt as shown in picture
2, so the bolt protrudes through the frame and engine mount bracket. (for left-hand side, ensure
the horn bracket it also re-mounted in original position)
Using a 17mm ratchet and 14mm spanner, fix the bolt using one M10 flanged locking nut (item 7)
on the protruding thread of the bolt ensuring thread passes completely through the locking nut, do
not fully tighten at this stage.
Finally, tighten the crash protector bolt until you feel some compression from inside the protector
using 17mm socket and 14mm spanner as shown in picture 3. PLEASE NOTE THE CRASH
PROTECTOR MUST BE POSITIONED AS IN PICTURE 'A' ON PAGE 3 WITH THE BIGGER END
TOWARD FRONT OF BIKE. Turn a little more so that you feel the compression increase
slightly, then apply a quarter turn. Tighten to 40Nm of torque (do not exceed this figure, as
damage can occur to the motorcycle and the bolt).
If not already fitted, fit a bubble sticker into recess of one crash protector cap.
Fit a crash protector cap (item 8) into the crash protector as shown in picture 4.
Repeat the above process for the Right-hand side of the motorcycle using the remaining
components.
Before riding, check both sides are secure, and the crash protectors cannot rotate.
Check tightness of each side regularly.
