Safety

2.1

Intended use

The centrifugal immersion pumps are used for transferring and circulating of bigger
quantities of aggressive and abrasive liquids in non-hazardous areas. The main fields
of application are in the chemical industry, process engineering, electroplating, printed
circuit manufacturing, water and wastewater treatment.
Flammable media must not be pumped.
Depending on the product to be transferred and the required performance, different
materials and drive motors are used.
All centrifugal immersion pumps can be driven by a range of different motors.
Three-phase motors are available as pump drives.
According to the design, the pumps may be used as mobile devices or they may be
permanently installed in plants.

2.1.1 Foreseeable misuse

Pump and accessory material must always be suitable for the product to be transferred
(see resistance chart).
Observe the internal operating instructions when changing the liquid. Take possible
chemical reactions and the resulting health hazards and material damage into account.
Only operate the motors in conjunction with the pumps in the corresponding liquids.
Non-observance may result in damage to the pump and the motor and operator injury.
Installation of the centrifugal immersion pumps must only be carried out by trained
personnel.
The pumps and the accessories are not intended to be used by uninstructed persons
or by persons with limited physical, sensory or intellectual capabilities, unless a person
responsible for their safety supervises them or receive instructions from that person on
how the device is to be used.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
2.2

Symbols and signs

Safety instructions are marked by a safety sign and a danger warning.
This will help you to identify potential hazards, to avoid risks and to operate the device
safely.
In addition, the operating instructions contain instructions for hazard avoidance.
Danger warnings are classified in three categories according to the severity of a potential
injury. Different signal words are used according to the severity.
The signification of the safety signs is signalled by shape and colour (DIN 4844):

Safety colour red
Contrast colour white
Safety colour yellow
Contrast colour black
