5.3 Troubleshooting

WARNING
Whenever the following checks need the removal and/or disassembly of the steering system components, such
operation must be carried by specialized staff. ULTRAFLEX offers general information only and is not responsible
for any consequences resulting from incorrect disassembly.
PROBLEM
During the filling, the steer-
ing system is stiff and hard
to turn.
The system is very difficult
to fill.
Air keeps bubbling at the top
of the steering system tank
even after filling the system
completely.
When turning the steering
wheel, the cylinder body does
not move.
Oil leaks from steering sys-
tem fittings.
Oil leaks from the tank plug. • Oil leaks from the tank plug.
When turning the steering
wheel to starboard, the boat
turns to the left and viceversa.
The control panel does not
start
CAUSE
• Blockage in the hoses between
steering system and cylinder.
• The system is off.
• Incorrect hose assembly
• Low oil level
• Leaks from the cylinder
bleeder.
• Coiled hose.
• Incorrect hose installation.
• Oil leak.
• Bad tightening or low torque
of the fittings.
• Too high oil level.
• Incorrect power unit installation • Install it properly.
• Hoses between the control unit
and the cylinder (Kit OB SVS) are
reversed.
• The batteries are switched off or
do not work well.
• The ignition cables are discon-
nected,
• The control panel is damaged
and/or disconnected.
Installation instructions
SOLUTION
• Replace hoses.
DANGER
The damaged hose must be replaced,
otherwise it may cause loss of steering
and severe personal injury or property
damage.
• Switch the system on.
• Install hoses properly; repeat the bleed-
ing procedure of the system.
• Add oil in the tank to the maximum level
• Tighten the bleeder on the cylinder.
• Uncoil and straighten the hose. Replace
it, if necessary.
• Install hoses properly; repeat the bleed-
ing procedure of the system.
• Look for the leak and contact special-
ized staff.
• Tighten the fittings with a maximum
torque of 20Nm (15 in.Ibs).
• Tighten the plug.
• Restore the correct level.
• Reverse hoses
• Check the battery charge.
• Ensure that all the connections are po-
sitioned correctly.
• Check any damage on the cables.
