18. NiXX discharge program
Discharging NiXX:
The GM Commander SPORT can also be used to discharge batteries, typically in order to ascertain the remaining capacity
after a run.
Press the 'Batt. Type / Stop' button to move to the PROGRAM SELECT - NiMH BATT or NiCd BATT menu, according to the
3 sec.
battery to be charged. Now press 'Start - Enter' for the 'NiMH DISCHARGE' or 'NiCd DISCHARGE' menu.
The default pre-set discharge current and discharge voltage are displayed on the screen. If you wish to change these settings,
press 'Start - Enter' again: the discharge current (0.1 - 1 A) starts to flash, and can now be altered using the DEC or INC button.
Pressing the 'Start - Enter' button again takes you to the final discharge voltage (0.1 - 25 V), which can be adjusted in the same
manner.
When the settings are correct, hold the 'Start - Enter' button pressed in for three seconds; the charger then initiates the auto-

To interrupt the charge process before it terminates automatically, press the 'Stop' button.
WARNING: the final discharge voltage should not be less than 1 V per cell for NiMH batteries and 0.85 V per cell
for NiCd, otherwise the battery may be damaged or - worse - ignite or even explode!
