Configure 3964 (R) process protocol
Continue to this dialogue when you have selected the 3964(R) protocol for the
process interface.
You can select the protocol type 3964R (with check sum) or 3964 (without check
sum).
You can enter the character string which is transmitted instead of the code content
in the event of failed reading into the String if reading failed input field. You can input
ASCII control characters using the notation described in the reference table in the
annex (page 58).
The protocol and the process interface can be tested via the Transmit test data and
Transmit data for failed reading buttons. The "Hello world!" character string or the
character string transmitted with String if reading failed will be transmitted with the
start and stop character strings via the process interface and at the same time it will
be displayed in the output window.
Continue to the next step of parameter setting by activating the Configure trigger
button or via the Next > button.

Configure multidrop process protocol

Continue to this dialogue when you have selected the multidrop protocol for the
process interface.
Here you will only have to determine the address of the sensor in the range between
0 and 99.

If several readers are interfaced via RS-485 all sensors in the network have to have different
addresses.
While this dialogue page is active you can communicate with the reader via the
process interface using the multidrop protocol. The commands received will be dis-
played in the output window and the reader will reply to the commands with fixed
test data (with a query command the "Hello world!" character string will be trans-
mitted as reading result, a status query will provide the status 0).
