Function and features

The Data Matrix code reader detects different code sizes of ECC200 Data Matrix
codes to ISO/IEC 16022 and reads the coded information.

Electrical connection

The unit must be connected by a qualified electrician.
Disconnect power before connecting the unit.

Process connection

Connect the supply voltage of 24 V DC according to the wiring diagram of the M12
process connection indicated in the annex (page 59).

When the sensor is switched on for the first time, the green LED for indicating readiness for
operation flashes. This shows that no valid configuration file has been stored in the sensor.
After parameter setting a configuration file is stored on the sensor. The green LED flashes con-
tinuously.
If you use an external trigger source such as a diffuse reflection sensor, connect the
trigger signal with the trigger input of the sensor. The trigger output of the sensor is
intended for connection of an external lighting. The latter is usually only necessary in
difficult operating conditions. The sensor sends the read Data Matrix code via a seri-
al interface (RS-232 or RS-485).

The RS-232 interface of a sensor can be directly connected to the RS-232 interface of a PC. The
reading results can then be represented by means of a terminal program.
