Safety instructions for cutting-off
machines:
The protective guard of the power tool
a)
must be securely fitted and adjusted for
maximum safety, i.e. so that only the
smallest possible part of the grinding
wheel is open and facing towards the
operator. Position yourself and by-
standers away from the plane of the
rotating abrasive wheel. The protective
guard should protect the operator from broken
fragments and accidental contact with the abra-
sive wheel.
Only use diamond tipped cut-off
b)
wheels for your power tool. Just because
an accessory can be attached to your power tool
does not mean safe operation is guaranteed.
The rated speed of the accessory must
c)
be at least equal to the maximum
speed marked on the power tool. Acces-
sories running faster than their rated speed can
break and fly apart.
Grinding wheels must be used only for
d)
recommended applications, e.g.: never
grind with the side surface of a cut-off
wheel. Cut-off wheels are intended for material
removal with the end of the wheel. Forces acting
on the side of these grinding wheels can cause
them to break.
Always use undamaged clamping
e)
flanges with the right size and form for
the grinding wheel used. Suitable flanges
support the grinding wheel and thus reduce the
danger of a grinding wheel breakage.
Outside diameter and thickness of the
f)
attachment must conform to the capac-
ity rating of your power tool. Incorrectly
sized accessories cannot be adequately protect-
ed or controlled.

Special safety instructions

Abrasive wheels and flanges must
g)
precisely match the grinding spindle of
your power tool. Accessories with arbour
holes that do not match the mounting hardware
of the power tool will rotate unevenly, vibrate
excessively and may cause loss of control.
Do not use damaged abrasive wheels.
h)
Before every use, check the abrasive
wheels for cracks or splits. If a power
tool or abrasive wheel is dropped, in-
spect for damage or fit an undamaged
abrasive wheel. After inspecting and
installing the abrasive wheel, position
yourself and bystanders away from the
plane of the rotating abrasive wheel
and run the device at maximum no-load
speed for one minute. Damaged abrasive
wheels will normally break apart during this test
time.
Wear personal protective equipment.
i)
Depending on the application, use a
face shield, safety goggles or safety
glasses. As appropriate, wear a dust
mask, hearing protection, protective
gloves and workshop apron capable
of stopping small abrasive or work-
piece fragments. The eye protection must be
capable of stopping flying debris generated by
various operations. The dust mask or respirator
must be capable of filtering particles generated
by your operation. Prolonged exposure to high
intensity noise may cause hearing loss.
Keep bystanders a safe distance away
j)
from your workplace. Anyone entering
the workplace must wear personal
protective equipment. Fragments of a
workpiece or broken accessory may fly into the
air and cause injury beyond the immediate area
of operation.
