Install the rudder cables, complete the front end terminations and connect the cables to
the rudder servo, as described for the glider version.
At this point the motor, spinner, batteries and ON / OFF switch can be installed. The
position of the individual components is shown in the photos.
The wings
Use the tip of a hot soldering iron to remove the covering film over the openings for the
three servos in each wing panel. Keep back one piece of scrap film for covering the
elevator servo well.
Melt a little of the high-density foam at each servo well to provide clearance for the servo
extension lead, and run the leads past the Servo-Lock.
Cut off the servo connectors and solder the extension leads to the servo leads, taking care
to maintain correct polarity (join like colours). Insulate each individual soldered joint with a
heat-shrink sleeve.
Melt away the foam over the holes in the control surfaces, and continue the holes to a
depth of 8 mm. We suggest that you fit a collet on the drill bit to act as an end-stop, i.e. to
prevent the drill cutting right through the control surface.
Remove the covering film round the horn hole in a circle the same size as the horn base.
Assemble the horns and glue them in the holes in the control surfaces.
Aileron horn
The next step is to glue the Servo-Lock in the wing recesses, after checking that the
openings are deep enough; you may need to remove a little more of the high-density foam
core to provide proper clearance.
Glue the Servo-Locks in the wings, taking care to line up the servo output arms with the
horns.
Make up the pushrods using the M2.5 x 40 mm threaded rods; you will need to bend the
aileron pushrods slightly.
approx. 40 mm long
There are two alternative methods of connecting the wing-mounted servos to the receiver:
1. Take the servo leads you cut off previously and solder them to the extension leads
where they exit the root ribs.
2. Solder the supplied MG6 plugs and sockets to the cable ends.
If you decide to use the MG6 plugs and sockets, use the outer contacts for + and -, i.e.
connect the positive wires of the three servos in each wing panel to a single contact, and
the negative wires to another single contact. The signal wires are then soldered to the
inner contacts. Do check carefully that the + and - contacts of the plug connect with the
appropriate contacts of the socket.
