3 Operation
BEF 320EX:
Risk of injury from inadvertent starting of the
machine! Before plugging in the power plug,
make sure the drive switch is turned off (f)!
6.
BEF 320EX:
a.
Join the connecting cable (extension cable)
with the proper power socket and plug the
connecting cable's coupling in the power
plug [26, Fig. D].
b.
Hold the machine by the guide handle
[5, Fig. A/B/E].
c.
Turn the drive switch [24, Fig. D] swiftly to
START
.
The drive motor, the pump and the milling rotor
are accelerated to nominal speed.
d.
Release the drive switch.
The drive switch falls back to the I position. The
drive is switched on.
BEF 320VX:
Starting the drive motor
(! HONDA operating manual).
7.
Use the milling depth lever [17, Fig. C/D] to set
the desired milling depth.
Risk of damage!
The milling depth setting is used not only for
setting the desired working depth but the milling
disc wear is compensated as well.
The maximum milling depth may not be set on
new milling discs.
The multi‐disc rods can be damaged or break.
If the milling depth is too great and the milling
discs go through to the multi‐disc rods, then this
can be noticed by increased vibrations
(! Chapter 4.2 ‐ page 22).
Fine adjustment:

1 rotation = 1.5 mm.
8.
Hold the machine by the guide handle.
9.
Pull the latch lever [18, Fig. C] against the lift
lever [16, Fig. C].
10. Swivel the lift lever forwards.
The rotating milling rotor is lowered to the set
milling depth on the surface to be milled.
The set milling depth is not changed by the lift
lever (quick lift).
If the machine is accelerated by the milling rotor:
— Press EMERGENCY STOP button!
— End operation (! Chapter 3.3 ‐ page 20)!
The forward drive is defective (chain broken?).
20
) = less milling depth.
+
) = more milling depth.
Risk of injury from uncontrolled movement in
reverse!
Always walk in the direction that the machine is
running!
When moving the machine in reverse, the oper
ator should always walk next to the machine
and look in the direction of travel!
The operator must always have an overview of
the working area, and be able to stop the ma
chine if necessary!
11. Use the drive lever to adjust the direction of
travel and travel speed for the milling condi
tions [4, Fig. A].
The machine moves in the selected direction.
The surfaced is milled.

3.3 Ending the operation

In an emergency, the machine can be switched
off with the EMERGENCY STOP button
[25, Fig. D] or by pulling the safety line
[36, Fig. F].
Risk of injury from automatic movements!
When the drive motor is switched off and the
milling rotor is not under load (e.g. in the event of
an emergency stop), the milling rotor continues
turning for a few seconds due to inertia.
The machine may continue to move during this
time.
Risk of injury from high voltage!
There is still residual voltage even after the ma
chine has been switched off. In order to switch
the machine free of voltage, the power plug
[26, Fig. D] has to be disconnected from the
mains!
1.
Shift the drive lever [4, Fig. A] into the middle
position (f).
2.
Pull the lift lever (quick lift) [16, Fig. C] all the way
back [19, Fig. C].
The lift lever latches into place.
The milling rotor is raised.
3.
Switch off the drive motor:
BEF 320EX:
Turn the drive switch [24, Fig. D] to f.
Disconnect the mains [26, Fig. D].
BEF 320VX:
Turn the fuel valve [30, Fig. E]and the motor
switch [32, Fig. E] to
(! HONDA operating manual).
4.
Wait until the drive and the milling roll stop.
The operation is ended.
OFF
