5.3.2 Power cabling

The power connection of the pigtail cable is terminated in a DC input jack. The mating connector should have
an outside diameter of 5.5mm with a 2.1mm diameter centre pin. The dome will function on 12-24V~ or 12-
=
24V
. The polarity of the supply voltage is not critical.
Ensure the power supply and associated cabling is capable of continuously supplying 4VA and peaks of 6VA.It
is also possible to buy an optional power supply kit for MDI dome: OMDPSWR.

5.3.3 Telemetry cabling

The four single insulated conductors with stripped ends are the telemetry connections. Use an appropriate
connector to connect to the site fixed wiring. Ensure the telemetry wiring conforms to Table 2 Telemetry wiring.
If you are going to control MDI dome with
communication. Anyway please follow Table 2.1 :

5.4 CAT-5 wiring systems

The modern alternative to traditional coaxial based video cabling is CAT-5 structured cabling. CAT-5 cabling is
a cost effective installation method, particularly if the building is already pre-cabled. It is suitable for both RS-
422 and RS-485 telemetry systems.
Twisted pair video transmitters are used with CAT-5 cable. This techniques enables comparatively long cable
runs without significant deterioration of the video signal. The MDI dome has an inbuilt active twisted pair
transmitter with a balanced 2 Vpp output signal. Ensure that a suitable twisted pair balun or twisted pair receiver
is installed at the receiving end of the CAT-5 wiring. This balun transforms the signal to a traditional unbalanced
signal so that it can be connected directly to a receiving device such as a monitor or recording equipment.
When using CAT-5 wiring, (employing twisted pair video transmission): ensure that the wiring is terminated with
an RJ-45 jack with the conductors orientated in conformance with standard TIA568B, as shown in Table 3.
