7. Setup

When selecting the installation location for your device, avoid direct sunlight, vibration, dust, hot
and cold temperatures and dampness. When setting it up with other equipment, make sure that
the device is well ventilated. Keep a sufficient distance to heat sources. Do not point any strong
spotlights or light sources towards the device. This may lead to overheating (risk of fire!).
Heat dissipation from the device must not be obstructed. Never place the device on soft surfaces
such as a carpet or a bed. Air circulation must not be obstructed by objects such as magazines,
table cloths, curtains or similar. This prevents heat dissipation from the device and can lead to
overheating (risk of fire!).
Make sure that the device is set up securely positioned on a steady surface. Persons can be inju-
red if the device falls down.
Make sure there are no devices with strong electric or magnetic fields such as transformers,
motors, cordless telephones, radio controlled devices etc. in the vicinity of the device as these
can interfere with the device. Keep as great a distance as possible to such devices.
Do not drill any holes or screw any additional screws into the device's housing, since this could
cause contact to dangerous voltages.
Make sure that the connection cables are not squeezed or damaged by sharp edges. Always
install the cables so that no one will trip over them or get caught in them. Risk of injury!
The cables must be of sufficient length. Avoid mechanical strain on the cables. This may damage
the cables or the device. There is the risk of a fatal electric shock.
Place the device on an even surface. Otherwise, the CDs cannot be read properly. Non-
compliance with these instructions may lead to damage of the inserted CD or the drive
unit.
Due to the great variety of varnishes and polishes of furniture, the device feet might lea-
ve visible marks on the furniture caused by chemical reactions. Therefore, the device
should not be placed on valuable furniture surfaces without suitable protection.
