Piston pin clip removal and installation
1. Remove and install:
• Piston pin clip
NOTE:
Before removing or installing the piston pin
clip, cover the crankcase opening with a clean
rag to prevent the piston pin clip from falling
into the crankcase.
Piston inspection
1. Eliminate:
• Carbon deposits
(from the piston crown and piston ring
grooves)
2. Check:
• Piston wall
Score marks → Repair with 600–800
grit wet sandpaper or replace.
NOTE:
Lightly sand the piston wall in a crisscross pat-
tern.
3. Measure:
• Piston skirt diameter
(using a micrometer)
Out of specification → Replace.
