Completion of Drainage Procedure
1.
Once drainage has been completed, place the drainova® silicone cap on the safety valve.
2.
Place the foam pad with the slit facing up around the catheter, loop the catheter and position
it on the foam pad.

3.
Cover the catheter with the gauze pad and apply the selfadhesive dressing.
Connecting the Rinsing Tube and Flushing the
Catheter (Dislodging Occlusions)
The following material is required to flush the catheter:
•
physiological saline solution (0,9 % NaCl)
•
Threeway valve
•
Syringe
•
Cannula 1 G
•
Alcohol wipe
1.
Open a new package of rinsing tubes. The rinsing tube in the package is sterile. It is important
that the access tip on the drainova® Rinsing Tube remains sterile.
2.
Connect a threeway valve onto the Luerlock connection of the rinsing tube.
3.
Fill a 10 m l or 20 m l syringe (cannula 1 G) with 10 – 20 ml physiological saline solution.
4.
Connect the syringe onto the threeway valve.
5.
Rotate the threeway valve so that the connection between the syringe and the rinsing tube is
open.
